Stuntman Injured by Actor in Set Accident
Stuntman Injured in Accident Involving Tom Sizemore
According to the Chicago Tribune, a stunt man was injured on the job while playing dead. The injury happened while cameras filmed an episode of the television show “Shooter” in a remote area of Los Angeles. Actor Tom Sizemore deviated from a script and ran over the stunt man, Steve de Castro, in an SUV. The unscripted move left de Castro injured with several fractures to his arm, bone and tissue damage. Also, the stunt resulted in 100 stitches in his forehead, according to records obtained by The Associated Press.
The stunt man was caught under the SUV. He had to be air lifted from the small airport where the episode was being filmed and taken for treatment.
Sizemore had attended safety meetings and rehearsal meetings that explained he was supposed to get behind the wheel of the vehicle but not move it. He, for unknown reasons, drove the car anyway and ran over de Castro. The SUV was left running to allow the air conditioner in the car to keep it cool.
De Castro has worked as a stuntman for about 12 years and his credits include two “Captain America” films and other Marvel movies. On “Shooter,” he was playing “Russian Guard #3,” who is gunned down during a shootout at a small airport.
